Play Bloxi! A Falling Letter Word Game

Bloxi (formerly Words with Shapes) is out now.  We plan to continue to develop the game, so please give us feedback, both on what you like and what you think would make the game a lot better.   Note: Steam key included with purchase (will be available on Steam at 8am CST December 17, 2021).

How to play

Form words with the letters in the falling blocks. Use the left and right arrow keys to move the falling block (you can move the block until it lands - and you can hear it hit).  Use down to have the block fall faster.  Use up to rotate the block.  WASD keys can also be used.  If you press Space or Return the block will quickly drop.  Added hotkeys for powerups - Z for leftmost and C for rightmost powerup.

Play Mode

In Clear Down Mode, make words with the greyed out letters when the game begins. If you clear them all, you win!  

In Daily Challenge Mode try to clear the greyed out letters. Obstacles include indestructible blocks and a letter that is removed. A unique puzzle every day!

Play forever in Endless Mode and try for a new high score! 

Last but not least, try Zen Mode where you can take as much time as you want to figure out where to place pieces. Pieces only move when you decide to move them.  

High score is tracked separately for each mode.

Difficulty Settings

In the settings menu you can change the difficulty.

Combos

If you can clear consecutive words in a row, you'll start to get a bonus multiplier.  The multiplier also increases in word chains caused by dropped blocks. The multiplier resets if you set down a block without getting a word.

If you get your multiplier to 5x or higher an extra row of blocks will spawn at the bottom if your tallest block is at row 7 or lower. If you have a multiplier of 5x or higher and your highest block is at row 12 or higher you will get free Big Bomb powerups.

Power Up(s)

Big Bomb - When you clear words the adjacent blocks also get cleared. It becomes available after several blocks land and cost different amounts depending on the difficulty. Use it wisely!

Add a Row - Adds a row of blocks at the bottom pushing up all the other blocks. This can help you keep a streak going so you don't run out of blocks. Only available in Zen and Endless Modes.

Drop Blocks - Causing blocks without a block below them to fall. This can help you close gaps to form words. Only available in Clear Down and Daily Challenge Modes.

Shock Wave - This will drop towers of blocks and shuffle the blocks around if they don't have adjacent blocks on both sides.

Auto-Saving

When you Quit, go the Settings, or Main Menu, the game will now save where you were and then you will have the option to continue your previous game at the Main Menu.
